Last night I was checking how many congress members have been expelled from office since the beginning, the total 15 , 14 of them was during the civil war. 1789 to date. Only 30 have been charged since this whole rigmarole began. My favorite charge was ethically repugnant conduct. That is a pretty short list

Indeed it is. The world was a simpler and smaller place during the civil war era, but now it is quite the opposite.
What I got from it is you can get away with anything in Congress except “support for the rebellion”.
