“Claremont was one of the very few serious institutions on the right to make an intellectual case for Trumpism. This is not an accident.” –Glenn Ellmers; is the Claremont Institute’s Salvatori Research Fellow in the American Founding.
“An intellectual case for Trumpism” when I first read that line in the context of the article it is located in I was momentarily speechless.
Like many people I see Donald trump for what things he clearly and obviously is, a bully, an egomaniac, a liar, a sexual predator, etc. you know the picture. So to find an educated individual asserting that an intellectual case can be made for a political ideology based upon Trump is almost unbelievable.
It is moments like that one that are important because they can lead a person to investigate something so seemingly absurd that the results of conducting some basic research into such a claim produces a very unwelcome surprise.
What I have discovered this weekend is not exactly new, nor is it all together old, more importantly though is the fact that what is behind this intellectualization of Trumpism is a relatively unknown movement that represents a genuinely challenging existential threat to American liberal democracy.
“All hands on deck as we enter the counter-revolutionary moment.
Let’s be blunt. The United States has become two nations occupying the same country. When pressed, or in private, many would now agree. Fewer are willing to take the next step and accept that most people living in the United States today—certainly more than half—are not Americans in any meaningful sense of the term.”
The two nations being referred to and one of those nations discussed and advocated by the author of the essay is a Maga-nation while the other nation is everyone else.
These are the opening lines of an essay written by Glenn Ellmers titled “Conservatism” is no Longer Enough this essay which is found in a newsletter of the Claremont Institute is a strong statement that elaborates the position of the institute as being the true Maga conservatives out of all the conservative elements currently in America.
“Knowing What Time It Is
Claremont was one of the very few serious institutions on the right to make an intellectual case for Trumpism. This is not an accident. Nor is it an accident that Claremont has never identified with any of the conservative (or liberal) factions. When commentators try to label us, they usually just say “Claremont conservatives.” “True MAGAs” is another label—occasionally used by those who think Trump voters inhabit yet another enclosure in the conservative zoo. In fact, however, they are not a partisan faction or an interest group at all. On the contrary, the position they represent transcends the conservative divisions by representing the true, non-partisan understanding of America. (Yes: this is a bold claim. I will defend it in a moment, along with the claim that Trump voters are essentially “Claremont conservatives.”)”
The essay in question was published March 24, 2021. Since that time the Claremont Institute has joined forces with 64 other conservative organizations in support of Project 2025 which is the work of the Heritage Foundation a think tank that has had an outsized influence on America’s conservative direction.
I cannot emphasize enough how threateningly serious the matter of Project 2025 is to Democratic Liberalism.
“It is not enough for conservatives to win elections. If we are going to rescue the country from the grip of the radical Left, we need both a governing agenda and the right people in place, ready to carry this agenda out on day one of the next conservative administration.
This is the goal of the 2025 Presidential Transition Project. The project will build on four pillars that will, collectively, pave the way for an effective conservative administration: a policy agenda, personnel, training, and a 180-day playbook.
The project is the effort of a broad coalition of conservative organizations that have come together to ensure a successful administration begins in January 2025. With the right conservative policy recommendations and properly vetted and trained personnel to implement them, we will take back our government.”
As of this writing 65 organizations have joined forces to advance the agenda of Project 2025.
“Advisory Board
A broad coalition of more than 65 conservative organizations has come together to form the project pillars.”
The full listing of Project 2025 organizations as of July 16, 2023
This number was only 45 as recently as January 31, 2023 as can be seen in this commentary posted at the Heritage Foundation website.
“This new vigor of the right can be found at Project 2025. Organized by the Heritage Foundation, Project 2025 has brought together 45 (and counting) right-of-center organizations that are ready to get into the business of restoring this country through the combination of the right policies and well-trained people. The Project’s foundation is built on four interconnected pillars.”
I will definitely be writing more about this alarming discovery tomorrow and in fact throughout the week, because this is a truly important movement to counteract vigorously and decisively.
Until tomorrow,

So sounds like we are at least two countries. Maybe we should consider negotiating a civil separation to divorce. The internal fighting within one bination might drop though the 2 separate countries contractual negotiations might be sparky. Better than what we have now.
